Happy New Year :D

Wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year from the entire I AM She Team & me.

2012 has been a fabulous year, the year brought with it many challenges and obstacles, but as always with time & love everything heals & we learn from our mistakes and move on.

In ancient India, the women were considered as equals to men in all fields.

Works by ancient Indian grammarians suggest that women were educated in the early Vedic period . Rig-Veda verses suggest that the women married at a mature age and were probably free to select their husband.

However, later (approximately 500 B.C.), the status of women began to decline and the women in India faced confinement and restrictions.

But today, the women in India and across the world are on the same platform as the men in every field.

Women Power getting even stronger

·        Mary Kom- The only Indian woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51 kg) category and winning the bronze medal. She has also been ranked as No. 4 AIBA World Women's Ranking Flyweight category.

·        Saina Nehwal- A badminton player who won the Bronze medal at the London Olypics on the 4^th August 2012

·        Sunita Williams- Indian American Astronaut & a US Navy Officer who holds the record for the longest space flight by a woman. She holds the record for number of spacewalks for a female, & the most spacewalk time for a female, made by her on September 5, 2012. 

·        Nirbhaya(medical Student who was sexually assaulted in Delhi) - She fought strongly with life till the last moment and because of her a big movement has started in India regarding men’s behavior and respect towards women & a law has been proposed by her name.      

·        Sushmita Sen- The 1^st woman to make India win the Miss Universe crown in 1994. She has single handedly and successfully managed to run the I AM She Organization and chosen the best contenders to represent India for the Miss Universe, Miss Globe International and Miss Asia Pacific World Pageants for a period of 3 years and also had an International winner in the 2^nd year itself along with a 1^st Runners up and 4^th Runners up position at the various pageants.

·        Himangini Singh Yadu- Miss Asia Pacific World 2012

·        Shilpa Singh- Top 16 at the Miss Universe 2012 Pageant after a gap of 4years.

I would specially like to thank I AM She and Sushmita ma’am for all the beautiful memories that I have had and experienced at the I AM She 2012 Pageant in Hyderabad.

I am also thankful to Himangini Singh Yadu as her presence during our training period at Hyderabad was very helpful to us 20 girls. We were one of the few lucky ones to get inspired by an International Winner everyday during our National Pageant.

I would also like to thank the various experts at the pageant who helped me to be at my best shape in every way for the Finale.
