My feelings on reaching home after I was crowned
Dreams do come true....
On the 21st September 2012 I thought my dream was over, standing on that prestigious stage as one of the Top 5 contestants, I still remember what a nerve wrecking moment it was. I was smiling all throughout and was confident to be placed in the top 3…suddenly I spotted my family in the audience…and my smile became wider, just couldn’t stop smiling after that as I had not spoken or met them for 11 days at a stretch for the 1st time in my life…
Finally in a few seconds they were about to announce the top 3 and I was getting jittery as that was it “the final moment” to decide our fate that night.
The 2nd runners up was announced… it wasn’t me
I thought … its good I have a chance of being the 1st runners up or the winner
And then I heard the 1st runners up name…again it wasn’t me…..
Finally the remaining 3 of us stood there and 1 of us was gona be the lucky 1…
And the Winner is………………………….. annnnd it wasn’t me….. L
I stood still, smiling and clapping for the 3winners looking at the screen high up ahead and saw those 3 lucky girls getting crowned…felt extremely bad as I was so close to winning and I missed it. I took my time to believe that I wasn’t in the top 3.
Later when I met my parents I had tears in my eyes, I gathered myself and thought to myself…I had made it to the top 5 atleast out of top 20 contestants from all over India.
And I was also very happy and proud of myself as I had won the Best Body- I AM FIT 2012 title, which was held on the 3rd day of the pageant , but the results were not to be disclosed till the last day.
Overall I AM SHE 2012 had been a wonderful learning experience it made me so much stronger, independent and more confident about the person I am.
After the pageant got over I decided to go to my hometown Baroda with my parents and brother as I had missed them a lot and wanted to spend some quality time with them. They were extremely proud of me as I had made it so far.
After a few days I checked the I AM She site and I got to know I was the 3rd Runners-up, felt good to know that was a step ahead from being in the Top 5 positions.
After a week I decided to go back to Mumbai and to resume work.
Just 2 days after I reached, on the 2nd of October, afternoon time I saw the 'I AM She' office number flashing on my phone. I was pleasantly surprised, I picked up and the person from the office asked me to reach the office as soon as possible.
I had many things running in my mind as I was not sure why I had been called; it either could be something very big or something normal and so I was trying to be calm and not assume anything.
I dressed up up well and left for the office. On reaching I saw the other 3 winners present there. All of us were waiting for Sushmita ma’am. I still did not know why I had been called.
Finally Ma’am came and called each one of us, one by one to her cabin to talk.
When I entered I was nervous, excited, jittery all at the same time and finally she told me due to some problem in the winners contract everyone was to be promoted to the higher title and so now I was amongst the top 3 and would be representing India at the Miss Asia Pacific World 2013.
I had tears in my eyes and did not know how to react , I thanked her from the bottom of my heart as the good news really meant a lot to me and in return ma’am told me “you are a very lucky child, it was in your destiny” J .
